02/02/2010 Introducing: The Bailey Girls | Newborn & Child Photography by Afterglow Photos

Have you heard about the Bailey girls?  They are destined to be rock stars!  Ok, maybe fashionistas or art critics, but definitely something creative!  You see, they have the coolest parents.  Their Mama is this wild child, once gothic girl with a fierce singing voice, turned amazing Mother.  Their Dad is this smart as heck, computer guy, who can jam with the best of them on rock band, all while being this fantastic Father. So now, we proudly introduce their children.  This is Layla. She loves her floral headbands, princesses, horses and tutus.  She can sing a mean Ariel tune and crack you up at the same time.  Layla is 4 and is now the proud, big sister of twin girls!  Here she is showing off her baby sister, Phoebe.  In the next few photos of the twins, Phoebe is in brown, and Alice is in green.bailey 01 Introducing: The Bailey Girls | Newborn & Child Photography by Afterglow Photos bailey 02 Introducing: The Bailey Girls | Newborn & Child Photography by Afterglow Photos

The twins are now 5 weeks old, and Layla is ready to accessorize them and make them her little playmates.  The twins seem to play off of each others moods.  When one is calm, the other isn’t.  When one is sleeping, the other isn’t.  When one is hungry, the other isn’t (well, most of the time anyway).  We tried so hard just to get a few shots of them together… but they had other plans, te he.  Although, it can be very challenging shooting twins, it is so worth it as you can’t help but feel like you are part of this miracle of life!!

Here are a few classic, close up portraits, so you can see the differences between the two gorgeous girls (now approaching 9 lbs)!  Alice (Baby A) appears to have the smaller features and fairer skin.  We think she might end up with big ‘ol blue eyes!   Phoebe (Baby B) seems to have a slightly darker complexion with more prominent features.  The verdict is still out who resembles Layla the most as a baby…

And, don’t babies just have the cutest little fingers and toes?!  You have to capture them while you can, because pretty soon they won’t be sitting still!  These tiny parts were meant for kicking, dancing, swimming and so much more!

The next few photos are of Phoebe.  Can you tell them apart yet?  We think she looks like her beautiful Mama.

Alice decided to be the quiet and content baby on this day, and Phoebe decided that being a model was hard work!  Layla, of course, was just having fun and enjoying any excuse to get dressed up!

Layla is already such a great big sister!  Alice and Phoebe, we can’t wait to see your little personalities develop and we are so looking forward to another photo shoot in the future.  What a wonderful gift your parents have given you all, the gift of siblings.  You will never be alone, you will always be loved, and something tells us that you will always be blessed with laughter in your home!

02/01/2010 A Growing Family | Maternity & Family Photography by Afterglow Photos

Tracey and Dave were one of the first weddings Sarah photographed when opening the photo business.  They’ve kept in touch through the years, and she is honored to continue to capture their family as it grows.  They are such a sweet family, and added on a little over 2 years ago when Baby J entered the picture.  Her sweet smile captured our hearts then and now she is this beautiful, energetic and talkative toddler.  She had so much to share during our session including reading, stuffed animals, making cupcakes and fairy tales…but the biggest news is that she is going to be a big sister!

Tracey looks amazing and has this tiny basketball shaped belly, but believe me, I know it feels way different when it is you carrying that belly. ;)

What a beautiful family, and so full of love!  There is nothing like a Daddy’s love to a little girl.  Isn’t the father/daughter photo precious?  You can just tell that Tracey is so proud of how smart, loving, and independent her little one has become already at 2 1/2!  It is amazing how time flies when you are having fun and watching your little ones grow!

01/28/2010 Carroll Family: from Bride to Baby | Lifestyle Photography by Afterglow Photos

Sarah had the pleasure of visiting a past client (bride + groom) recently, for their daughter’s 6 month photo session in Shelton, CT.  Miss M was the sweetest and most adorable little girl, and she is the kind of baby that was born sleeping.  Yup, you heard it right… she has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks old!!  Mama could go back to work with little worry because little M was sleeping through the night, and she also has the best family members looking after her.  And so now, here we are at 6 months old and Miss M is all relaxed and curious for her photo shoot.  She has the best personality, is so photogenic, and we had so much fun playing dress up!!

Isn’t that just about the happiest family (and most well rested) you’ve ever seen with a newborn?!  Don’t you just want to give baby M all these squeezes! carroll 06 Carroll Family: from Bride to Baby | Lifestyle Photography by Afterglow Photos

And those big, expressive eyes…gotta love ‘em!carroll 05 Carroll Family: from Bride to Baby | Lifestyle Photography by Afterglow Photos carroll 04 Carroll Family: from Bride to Baby | Lifestyle Photography by Afterglow PhotosSarah bought a few of these flowery headbands, and Miss M’s mama found the one with the feather.  Hey, a girl’s gotta have her accessories!  Seriously though, the headbands and hats are fantastic when your babe doesn’t have a lot of hair.  (Sarah’s babes come out bald and end up with a mullet by age 2, so why not wear hats/bands if you’ve got cute ones like these?) :-)

Here’s some wedding advice I read recently, and thought it was spot on!  Wanted to share it with you all.

David and Meg met about 5 years ago at a party for the Nanban running club in Tokyo where they are both members.  So naturally, once planning their wedding they decided to incorporate their love for running into their pre-ceremony activity.  Don’t you just love the serene and relaxed feeling they started their day with?  An invigorating run, followed by a wedding.  Talk about inspiring!

10/25/2009 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow Photos

Right before Halloween we had the opportunity to work with two amazing people, Dawn & Giancarlo, on their wedding.  Sarah met with them prior to their big day and took a few minutes to shoot some quick engagement photos during a “get to know you session”, and luckily they were able to meet at their reception space, the Phoenixville Foundry, beforehand to see the venue in the daylight.  The site is a blend of industrial character with modern elements throughout, including the steel sculpture garden and truss bridge that we made sure to capture that day!

9and12 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow Photos
We knew we’d be working against daylight savings time and possibly even too early a timeframe for the perfect foliage setting, but we were hoping for some gorgeous sunsets above the grand setting of the Foundry and some incredible foliage if at all possible!!  Thank goodness we have these few and sunny engagement photos to look back on, you’ll see why later on in this post…

34and36 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow PhotosSo, as Dawn and Giancarlo’s wedding day unfolded we had perfectly cloudy skies that morning, and we were keeping fingers crossed for no rain.

53and58 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow PhotosWe started out with each of our subjects, Sarah with Dawn and Peter with Giancarlo, and we could already feel the emotional high.  The getting ready process was simple, everyone very organized, and we were able to grab early portraits of the families and bridal parties to help move the day along.  Even Dawn and Giancarlo’s pup made its debut!

41and69 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow PhotosWe got to the church and experienced a very heartfelt sermon, one in which you can tell the Bride & Groom have history.  So many stories to share and so much goodness coming from them both.  Everyone you meet just gushes over these two!

The setting itself was stunning.  There are these beautiful light fixtures amongst these gorgeous steel structures, in this wide open space that includes a 2nd floor with balcony – seriously, amazing!

99and353 Family and History at the Foundry | PA Wedding Photography by Afterglow PhotosSome of our other favorite details (we see these often, but in different ways) were the wedding frames of their family.  D & G’s families were an integral part of their planning and it wouldn’t have been a celebration without them and their history!

08/12/2009 Sand In Your Toes at the Madison Beach Club | CT Wedding Photography by Afterglow Photos

Aimee & Ede’s wedding was inspired by their beach engagement in Brazil.  Their wedding happened on a gorgeous day in Madison, CT and the Beach Club was full of vibrant colors, sea shells, sand, and the closest of family and friends.  Aimee was prepared with her adorable flip flops from Nine West, and my favorite item – her shell purse!!

Crew.  Sunflowers and punchy pinks and purples were all throughout, and the bright colored sand stood out in the unity part of the ceremony where they brought sand from different places that are important to them… combining them to make it one.
