11/19/2010 Falkirk Estate and Country Club + Allie and Mike = Superheros in Love | Hudson Valley, New York Weddings by Afterglow Photos

Allie saw Mike sitting in a booth at a bar so she went over and introduced herself. They got to talking and realized that they both went to college at Oneonta and knew a lot of people in common. As the night went on, Allie realized that she had never laughed so hard as she was at this moment with Mike. Welcome to Allie and Mike’s love story…
Mike proposed to Allie on October 30, 2009. Halloween had always been a big holiday for them as they love to dress up and celebrate. (You will see more of this later on in a gift that Allie’s father presented to the couple during their reception.) So it was fitting that their wedding happened a year later on this date.

Their Irish heritage is a big part of their lives, so they definitely wanted to include it in the details and green color scheme of their wedding day. We especially loved the florals by Putnam Valley Florist, and the bridal bouquet details they helped to incorporate of Allie’s Grandfather’s military uniform buttons. Allie was glowing on this day, and Lauren from Expert Makeup Artistry Studio helped to bring out her natural beauty.

After they tied-the-knot and became Mr. & Mrs. O’Connor, we headed over to their reception at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club where the owners allowed us to use Falkirk Farm and a horse as a backdrop for our photos. Quite simply, it was rustic beauty at its best and the fall foliage was perfect!

We headed back to the golf course and had the bridal party play with us for a bit, and then we headed inside to capture the details that Allie and her parents worked so hard on. You see, her Dad is a Graphic Artist who happens to love his family photos and wanted to incorporate them into the day in a unique way.

It was time for the party to get started and we just loved how the family let loose in their speeches and on the dance floor. And then, the big unveiling of the gift from Allie’s Dad…

…an incredibly designed canvas of the couple in their finest superhero costumes (a.k.a. Captain America and She-Ra) from a Halloween years ago. It was a work of art, and a testament to a Father’s love for his child. It read… “They Met, They Married, They Conquered the World”. It was definitely one of the highlights of the day!

Don’t you just love the Celtic decor of this cake? Allie made sure to tie in their heritage from start to finish! It was one of the most beautiful designs we’ve seen. The night ended with heartfelt parent dances, the kind that bring a tear to your eye, and a serenade from Mike’s Dad. Everyone was on their feet, dancing or singing along!

One thing is for sure. Allie and Mike grew up with great role models, the kind that show you what marriage, true love and support looks like. It was an honor capturing this day for you all, and we hope you have many more blessings this Thanksgiving!

10/28/2010 Falkirk Estate and Country Club + Meghan and Mark = Fabulous Fall Affair | Hudson Valley, NY Wedding Photography by Afterglow Photos

It took them over 5 years and thousands of miles across bridges and highways, to realize that sometimes when you know, you just know. On this day they celebrated their marriage wearing “something blue” and “something sneaker” cuz you all know these two were wearing their dancing shoes for this occasion!

Their wedding day came together on a beautiful fall day in the Hudson Valley of NY. They decided to keep with the fall colors of brown, red and gold tones throughout their day. They both looked stunning, and what an incredible group of family and friends surrounded them.

Meghan and Mark were hoping for a warm and comfortable day so they could have their intimate ceremony outside. Their wish came true, it was about 70 degrees and sunny in early October! Guests were seated outdoors in the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Falkirk Estate and Country Club.

Since the backdrop of the country club with rolling hills and gorgeous grounds were available to us, we decided to run around for a bit with the new Mr. & Mrs.! We had a blast with these two and got some great shots of them in a short amount of time.

Most of our brides and grooms express to us that they want to experience the cocktail hour because it has the best food sampling of their day. Of course, we are always happy to oblige. The menu at the Falkirk Estate did not disappoint! Everything was phenomenal, and we were so impressed with the staff and their professionalism and warm personalities.

As we headed inside to the reception, we grabbed some shots of the details. The red, gold and brown tones continued… and even into the cake! There was a use of chocolate to decorate the exterior frosting area like we’ve never seen! Seriously, *loved* how creative this cake was, and we hear that Mark had some input here with the help of Homestyle Desserts. Another sweet touch, our bride and groom made a donation to the Room to Read organization in honor of their guests.

Meghan and Mark shared a fast-paced first dance to “Forever Young” and then we all had the pleasure of watching Mark’s freestyle moves the rest of the night! And, I’m not saying this lightly…Mark CAN DANCE!

We loved watching these two “get down” and this was the best daytime wedding that I have ever been to – hands down! The families and friends all showed such love and support for M & M and you couldn’t help but feel like they were destined for great times together.

Of course, we had to finish this post up with a shot of the dancing shoes that kept the dance floor going the entire party! And a huge shout out to Stolen Moments Entertainment for making our job easy by getting everyone up on their feet, and allowing us to get all those dance floor action shots we love so much!
