When you think back to you childhood memories what do you think of? Is it the fireflies during summer, playing outdoors until dark, or your favorite ice cream treat on special occasions? Maybe it’s the holidays and yearly celebrations that you’ve grown used to and now look forward to as an adult? Did you spend these days with your siblings, or possibly your cousins, aunts and uncles? I think most people do, and you are very lucky if you have snapshots of these times in your life.
It brings me to this incredible family. They started as siblings, then two girls grew up and had children of their own. Now they have brought together their two families to share life, all of its ups and downs, craziness and peaceful days, laughter and love. Now their kids are the closest of cousins and they get to grow up together as friends.
On this gorgeous day, the kids took some time to blow bubbles, roll in the grass, tickle until you can’t laugh anymore, and enjoy the simple things. Sawyer (4) is such a sweet kid, and he has a new little sister, Malin (8 mos), whom he can’t help but love to pieces. Just look at her cute, squeezable cheeks!
Peter had the joy of documenting these memories for them. There were so many fun moments, lots of ball play, quality time with Daddy, and time to chill while getting some relaxed family shots. Mother’s Day was part of the inspiration, and getting some recent photos of the kids playing together and of the family interaction. Peter had been there to photograph Malin after she was born, so it was an honor to spend more time with them and to witness the whole family in all of their togetherness!
Don’t you just love how carefree and happy these kids are?! It was a great play date… but with a camera or two in hand! And brothers, Justin (6) and Mason (15 mos) did not disappoint, they were nothing but themselves. Two boys laughing, playing and enjoying the day!! Life is wonderful when you are a kid!
These are the days when you just want to take a moment to breathe the air in, take in your surroundings, and be thankful for what you have (your family & friends, good health), or in our case… what we do.
Peter wanted to freeze this moment in time for them, to capture it in all of its essence.
Kiss. Giggle. Hug. Touch. Run. Jump. Childhood is calling…
In life, there are people that shape who you are and who help you to grow and truly enjoy each day. They are your parents, your siblings, your cousins, your friends… your FAMILY.
What an amazing day to spend with this incredible family. Thank you for the opportunity to preserve your history in a beautiful and artistic way!

Comments OffHad the pleasure of meeting with Geeta and Amit to photograph their family just outside of Boston, Mass recently. It was the perfect spring day and we thought we had a great location picked out but it turns out that the mosquitos had other plans. Since their baby boy (just 5 months old) was our main subject, we decided to drive around and find a location that was a little less buggy. After a few tries we came upon a local town green, you know the kind of place… where the town hall is located and all kinds of events take place outdoors. This day happened to be the “family fun day” in town. The trees were blooming and the sun was out and cars were everywhere. Our little subject had all kinds of attention grabbers to watch, but he was most fond of the cars driving by. Yep, typical boy!

What struck me the most when first getting our session off the ground was how calm and comfortable this family was in front of the camera. Both Mom and Dad were so “in the moment” with their baby, and they couldn’t take their eyes off of him. You can tell that they are just “smitten” with him. He brightens their eyes, their world, their lives, and it is evident!
We had so much fun just doing what comes naturally to babies – PLAY! Geeta has this glow about her when she holds her baby boy. He is the most adorable thing that she has ever laid eyes on, especially all dolled up in his fantastic baby shoes! I found out that Geeta shares a similar love with me, her love of baby shoes! They are simply hard to resist — just like his smile!
Amit is so joyful and loving with his son, and he is not afraid to show his emotion. He is a proud father and a gentle protector, and it was so heartwarming to witness a family’s real love for a child.
Geeta, Amit and family, it was my sincere pleasure to capture this special time in your lives and to preserve your family’s history for you. Your warm and welcoming nature was most appreciated, and I know that your baby boy will surely know how much he is loved by you all!
Right before Halloween we had the opportunity to work with two amazing people, Dawn & Giancarlo, on their wedding. Sarah met with them prior to their big day and took a few minutes to shoot some quick engagement photos during a “get to know you session”, and luckily they were able to meet at their reception space, the Phoenixville Foundry, beforehand to see the venue in the daylight. The site is a blend of industrial character with modern elements throughout, including the steel sculpture garden and truss bridge that we made sure to capture that day!

We knew we’d be working against daylight savings time and possibly even too early a timeframe for the perfect foliage setting, but we were hoping for some gorgeous sunsets above the grand setting of the Foundry and some incredible foliage if at all possible!! Thank goodness we have these few and sunny engagement photos to look back on, you’ll see why later on in this post…
So, as Dawn and Giancarlo’s wedding day unfolded we had perfectly cloudy skies that morning, and we were keeping fingers crossed for no rain.
We started out with each of our subjects, Sarah with Dawn and Peter with Giancarlo, and we could already feel the emotional high. The getting ready process was simple, everyone very organized, and we were able to grab early portraits of the families and bridal parties to help move the day along. Even Dawn and Giancarlo’s pup made its debut!
We got to the church and experienced a very heartfelt sermon, one in which you can tell the Bride & Groom have history. So many stories to share and so much goodness coming from them both. Everyone you meet just gushes over these two!
Then we headed to the reception and wouldn’t you know it…RAIN! Yep, it poured. No chance of photos outside. Not even those cute, holding the umbrella ones in the misty rain…it was just way to stinkin wet. So, we had a plan. Actually, Peter had a plan! He saw this huge steel column that was a great backdrop to Dawn (D) & Giancarlo (G). You see, G’s family had worked in the PA steel industry way back when and the Foundry was built upon that very same steel. Perfect backdrop, and perfect improvise!
The setting itself was stunning. There are these beautiful light fixtures amongst these gorgeous steel structures, in this wide open space that includes a 2nd floor with balcony – seriously, amazing!
D & G were one of the first couples to have their reception at this new venue in Phoenixville, PA (Chester County) and I’m sure there will be many more to follow. Joan Kelly and her crew at the Foundry were phenomenal, very kind and professional.
The food stations were super yummy, and the details even more impressive! Dawn went above and beyond with her fall theme, and we chose to show you some of the adorable hand made items like their table decor, centerpieces and name tree (adorned with leaves for the guests to find their seats). They brought the outside in. On this rainy night it was perfect!
Some of our other favorite details (we see these often, but in different ways) were the wedding frames of their family. D & G’s families were an integral part of their planning and it wouldn’t have been a celebration without them and their history!
At the end of the day, all you could feel was this warmth and love surrounding them.

Maybe it was the heat of the dance floor and their non-stop DJ, or possibly the room drenched in candlelight, but I think it was mainly about the Bride & Groom and the love and kindness they share which comes right back to them ten times over.

Congrats D & G! We know that you have nothing but wonderful memories that lie ahead.
