Both, our bride and groom are University of Delaware alum, and thankfully a mutual friend’s birthday brought them together back in the summer of 2006 when they first met. Some call it chance, but we like to think that in matters of the heart…it is fate at work.
So on this fairytale-like day our bride incorporated crystals into her elegant and stunning attire, and celebrity makeup artist, Andrew Sotomayor, helped to create some glamour for Mollie’s look as well.
Joey and Mollie wanted to tie-the-knot near NYC, but just far enough outside of the city to make it different. They also wanted a place where they were allowed to bring their dog Lucy and incorporate her into the ceremony. They found The View on the Hudson, and it proved to be the magical place they were hoping for with views of the Hudson River, Palisades, and Tappan Zee Bridge in the background.
Before their guests started to arrive they headed inside for the Ketubah signing, one of the oldest elements in a Jewish wedding. It signifies their lifelong commitment, as they promise to love, cherish, encourage and inspire one another. Rabbi Renee Edelman made sure that this important part of their journey was meaningful, heartfelt and joyous!
Joey and Mollie were escorted into the ceremony by their parents, to a spot beneath the Chuppah. Affixed to the underside was the tallis of Mollie’s grandfather, which the couple is wrapped in later on and I like to think that it surrounds them with love from their ancestors.
Mollie first explained the vision of her wedding day to us with themes of gold ribbons with cream and blush rose accents. She was hoping for pure elegance and romance, and with a setting like that of The View, she accomplished just that. Mollie also enlisted the help of Katie Berger from Sara Kate Events as her “Day of Coordinator”, and what a difference Katie made in making sure that every little detail was taken care of! We loved our experience working with her as well, she’s a true pro and so very sweet.
Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Meyer! The party lasted for hours and the romance and celebration continued. The families and friends on either side strutted their stuff and got their grooves on with the help of Awestruck Band.
Our bride and groom were beaming with each blessing, toast or speech by their loved ones, and with each parent dance. You can just feel the love from each of their families, and there were many sweet moments as each parent danced with such pride for their incredible children!
The University of Delaware alum never disappoint, and there were many shots, cheers and candid photos that followed! Homestyle Desserts Bakery outdid themselves with this fabulous cake full of decorative swirls and roses – so pretty!
Mollie snuck in a few more surprises before the night was over, with a candy bar and her groom’s very own Giants themed football cake for a sweet ending. ; ) Mollie and Joey, it has been our pleasure and honor preserving your family’s history, and capturing your love through our lens. Once everyone started arriving they were treated to lemonade and sweet tea, and had the chance to make their marks on the creative artist canvas that was part of the splashes of color I mentioned earlier.
We thought this was such a great idea and a fresh twist on the signature frame matte you see often! The ceremony took place along side of the CT River, and it was such a beautiful setting! Doesn’t this yellow color rock?! The wildflowers just POP off the backdrop of the dresses! Morgan is so good with the details, and she really wanted her earth-friendly elements to show throughout the day. The flowers were inspired from a local farmer’s market, and their natural beauty was surpassed only by Morgan’s.
The bridal party was a super fun group who seriously looked like they just stepped off the pages of Vineyard Vines or J. Crew. We had a blast with them and hope to see them at more events in the future!
For those of you just dying the see the “green” themes and personal touches, here they come! Morgan and John used these dove name/table cards hung from tree branches so their guests could find their seats, but they also doubled as favors! LOVED it! The doves were made from natural, biodegradable fibers embedded with seeds. So, the paper RECYCLES and the flowers bloom – awesome!
Ok, so of course there would be more wildflowers…check out the table above and the cake below. Oh, and did I mention the mason jars holding the flowers? And I almost forgot to say that they are huge METS fans too (in case you almost missed it)!
I don’t know if they rehearsed their dance or not, all I know is that John is a surprisingly great dancer! You half expect it from the ladies, but not the men! Go John!
This was one of the most incredible tented receptions we’ve photographed in a while. I think it had something to do with the details of the day, the weather, the couple, the party — yup, everything!
