Debbie came to Connecticut from her home state of New Jersey to study Physical Therapy. She didn’t know it at the time, but coming to Connecticut meant she would meet the man of her dreams.
James teaches technology, and with his mad computer skills he had set up to record his marriage proposal with a couple different cameras around their house. For all of the hopeless romantics out there, here’s a peek at his surprise proposal and how he totally caught her off guard! It is simply one of the best proposal reactions caught on video that I have ever seen – I love it!! {Be patient and let the video load, it only takes 2 minutes – and you get to see their dog’s reaction too!}
James is thrilled to now share his home state and life with Debbie and their dog Daisy. For their engagement session, we wanted it to be a relaxed afternoon spent playing with their pup, and visiting their favorite places near home. Here’s a peek at the fun we had that day in the slideshow below.
I had never been to East River Preserve or Chaffinch Island Park before and they are both beautiful gems tucked away in the town of Guilford! Thanks for taking me there and letting me play with Daisy too (she is the sweetest!), and I cannot wait for the summer fun we are going to have celebrating you two in 2012! xo

Jenna’s bouquet, honoring her Daddy. The man she lost too soon, but who watches over her with the angels. On this day, he is still present to walk her down the aisle.
Some say, the eyes are the window to one’s soul. Don’t you just feel like you can see right into her soul and her huge heart?!
Jenna looked gorgeous! We loved Mark’s smile here because it is so REAL! It is full of anticipation, nervous energy and excitement! Here she comes! Jenna is escorted by her two brothers and her father’s spirit is present throughout the room…

How perfect is the “Love One Another” sign above their heads as they are exiting the church, with true JOY on their faces! And now we are off to the bride & groom portrait part of the day that took place at a local winery on the way to the reception.

You can tell there is this comfort and the feeling of “home” between these two. It is so genuine and inspiring!
You gotta love the facial expressions of everyone being themselves and having fun! And, now for the gorgeous fall inspired cake… stunning and totally unique! There were touches of this wheat decor throughout the whole reception and it was beautiful!

Once everyone started arriving they were treated to lemonade and sweet tea, and had the chance to make their marks on the creative artist canvas that was part of the splashes of color I mentioned earlier.
We thought this was such a great idea and a fresh twist on the signature frame matte you see often! The ceremony took place along side of the CT River, and it was such a beautiful setting! Doesn’t this yellow color rock?! The wildflowers just POP off the backdrop of the dresses! Morgan is so good with the details, and she really wanted her earth-friendly elements to show throughout the day. The flowers were inspired from a local farmer’s market, and their natural beauty was surpassed only by Morgan’s.
The bridal party was a super fun group who seriously looked like they just stepped off the pages of Vineyard Vines or J. Crew. We had a blast with them and hope to see them at more events in the future!
For those of you just dying the see the “green” themes and personal touches, here they come! Morgan and John used these dove name/table cards hung from tree branches so their guests could find their seats, but they also doubled as favors! LOVED it! The doves were made from natural, biodegradable fibers embedded with seeds. So, the paper RECYCLES and the flowers bloom – awesome!
Ok, so of course there would be more wildflowers…check out the table above and the cake below. Oh, and did I mention the mason jars holding the flowers? And I almost forgot to say that they are huge METS fans too (in case you almost missed it)!

I don’t know if they rehearsed their dance or not, all I know is that John is a surprisingly great dancer! You half expect it from the ladies, but not the men! Go John!
This was one of the most incredible tented receptions we’ve photographed in a while. I think it had something to do with the details of the day, the weather, the couple, the party — yup, everything!
Morgan and John, we were honored to share your day with you and to capture all of the memories. Best wishes for a wonderful and wild time together on this earth!
